Congo Rainforest in Uganda
Semuliki National Park is an eastern extension of the great Ituri Forest of the DRC, making it the only true lowland tropical rainforest in East Africa. The park's biodiversity skews heavily Central African, and birders especially treasure Semuliki for its 440+ species, including many found nowhere else in East Africa. The park's headline attraction is the Sempaya Hot Springs, where boiling water erupts from the earth at 'male' and 'female' springs steeped in local folklore. Forest walks, primate sightings, and visits to the Batwa, Bambuti, and Batuku communities round out the experience.
